PERCUSSIONISTS!
Do you have some free time and own your own set of drumsticks? Check out VicFirth for some rudiments that you can work on if you feel like drumming before or after school starts. The best musicians are always working on something to make them better and this is a great way to keep in shape for band. Videos of how to play the rudiments are provided on the page.

PRACTICE TIPS
1) Set aside at least an hour a week to pick up your instrument and practice. Class time is meant for questions and learning new techniques, but you must practice those new techniques outside of class to perfect them.
2) Practice small sections at a slower than performance tempo. This will prevent you from becoming frustrated with the music and ensure that you are more confident with the music.
3) USE A METRONOME! Set the metronome at a tempo where you can play a part of the music where you make the least amount of mistakes as possible.
4) Practice long tones, scales, and parts of the music that you are struggling with in class. When you finish those, take the time to play something fun! Make sure to spend the large part of your practice on the things that help make you a better player.
5) Make music and have fun! Being a good player in band takes time, but is worth the effort.

4TH GRADE GENERAL MUSIC

We will again be working with recorders in the 4th grade general music classroom. Every student needs to have a recorder when we start the unit later in the fall semester. Recorders can be found at Yandas Music in Kearney or on websites such as amazon, or peripole. Links are provided by clicking on the site listing. Contact me with any questions.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Lessons for students wanting to better themselves will be available before and after school. Students or parents please contact me if you would like to set up a time. One-on-one lessons are one of the best ways to improve yourself as a musician!! Take advantage of this opportunity!
